welcome to remedial massage co.
sports and remedial massage
sports massage is effective, results based, soft tissue therapy. it has a fundamentally different approach compared to other types of massage because we use specialised techniques proven in aiding the rehabilitation, flexibility and optimum health of soft tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments). sports massage restores full functionality and comfort to muscles which have been over worked or over used.
remedial massage is a step up from sports massage. techniques aim to create a positive change within the soft tissues (to relax, realign and strengthen muscles fibres, re-educating the body back to healthy postures and efficient movement patterns as well as spotting potential injuries ahead of time and speeding up recovery post-training).
a non-invasive yet more advanced type of treatment, incorporating soft tissue release, muscle energy stretches and neuromuscular techniques, remedial massage comes into it’s own. techniques are often performed through towels or clothing, in whichever way the therapist can create the most effective, efficient results.
benefits of massage
elite athletes use sports and remedial soft tissue therapy as an integral part of their training regime for several reasons; enhanced performance and increased flexibility to start with. by rapidly assisting the body’s natural repair processes in flushing out waste, sports and remedial massage is highly effective in the treatment of:
adhesions and scar tissue breakdown,
sprains and strains recovery,
deactivating trigger points,
RSI (repetitive strain injuries),
whiplash,
tennis/golfers elbow,
poor sleeping patterns and persistent headaches,
chronic situations and muscles in spasm/cramp.
your first treatment / what do I wear?
initially, we begin with a consultation, to discuss your requirements and goals, lifestyle patterns and which areas of the body we need to treat in order to give you the best results long term, not just for that hour. towels are used for your modesty and comfort. the more comfortable you are, the better we can do our job. we recommend clients wear conventional underwear or shorts for their massage.
although we treat minor soft tissue injuries, the diagnosis and treatment of injury and medical conditions is the responsibility of a medical practitioner and not a massage therapist. if you think you may have an injury, see a physiotherapist or your GP as soon as possible. for additional information click on injuries
